Average order value vs. control group

Average order value is the number this engagement was run to move, measured against a permanent control group running on the same site over the same period. How Fulcrum measures impact .

The engagement

One number, because a wholesale basket turns on one number.

The leak, what Fulcrum configured against it, and why the report is this short.

A B2B buyer does not browse. They arrive with a purchase order in mind, a size run to fill and a delivery date to hit, and the whole basket is built in one sitting. Everything therefore rides on what gets added before checkout. The site listed the garment. It said nothing about the accessory that belongs beside it, the second colorway, or the size run this same buyer took last quarter.

Fulcrum configured the suite against the size and color matrices and the reorder history together. Frequently Bought Together carries the product page, where the accessory belongs alongside the garment. Replenishment reads the reorder cadence nobody was tracking. Customers Also Bought works the cart, which on a wholesale basket is the last and largest place left to add a line.

Average order value is what this engagement was run to move, so average order value is what is reported. Fulcrum publishes a figure only where it can be measured against the control group and sourced. Where it cannot, the figure is left out rather than estimated, because one number you can stand behind is worth more to you than three you cannot.

Before and after

What changed on the order.

Today

The garment page lists the garment, and the buyer assembles the rest from memory.

  • Size and color runs left for the buyer to piece together by hand
  • No accessory shown beside the garment it belongs with
  • Reorder cadence tracked in the buyer's spreadsheet, not on the site

With Fulcrum

The order builds itself around what this buyer actually orders.

  • Frequently Bought Together matched to the size and color matrix
  • Replenishment timed to the buyer's own reorder cadence
  • Customers Also Bought in the cart, where a wholesale basket still has room
